A man caught driving almost seven times over the limit in northern NSW was too drunk to be charged, police say.
Officers received reports of a man driving erratically on Summerland Way, Casino, about 7.40pm yesterday, and pulled the driver over when they saw the car veer onto the wrong side of the road, police said.
The 47-year-old man, who was driving with two passengers, gave a positive breath test and was taken to Casino police station, where he allegedly blew a reading of .341.
"Due to his level of intoxication, it was not suitable for the man to be charged at the time," police said in a statement.
Police suspended the man's licence and took his keys, before taking him to a relative's home.
He is expected to be charged with high-range drink driving later today.
