BBC News - Arrest over attempted murder shooting in South Tyneside: "Officers were called to an address in Grasmere Road, Hebburn, on Monday night after reports of shots being fired.<br /> They found a 27-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds. He is being treated in hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.<br /> Northumbria Police said a 36-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the attack and was in custody."

» NDLEA arrests 21 for drug trafficking::Vanguard (Nigeria): "National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has arrested a 2006 graduate of Enugu State University of Science and Technology at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, for attempting to smuggle 1.050kg of cocaine.<br /> The suspect, Adolphus Nnamdi Agu, who is an Agricultural Engineering graduate, was nabbed with the drug he ingested in 79 wraps.<br /> The agency also arrested 20 other suspects at the same airport for drug trafficking, including a female, with an overall haul of 25.520kg of narcotics, comprising 18.100kg of cocaine, 5kg of cannabis, 2.015kg of heroine and 1.455kg of methamphetamine."

Expert: Maine Tops Nation in Prescription Drug-Related Arrests: "Maine leads the country in prescription drug-related personal and property crime, according to numbers released at an international symposium being held in Portland on the safe use and disposal of medicine.<br /> <br /> One of the symposium's organizers, Dr. Stevan Gressitt, says that the numbers come from the National Drug Intelligence Center, which relies on reports from law enforcement agencies. Gressitt says records show that arrests involving prescription drugs far exceed cocaine, heroin, marijuana combined.<br /> <br /> Part of the reason for Maine's high ranking, he says, is greater awareness in the state about the problems surrounding prescription drugs. Gressit says there are other factors as well.<br /> <br /> 'Arguably because we're older, and arguably because we're in occupations which are more prone to accidents, we may have a population that is receiving more painkillers,' Gressit says. 'And, as a result, the risk of dependency increases with your first prescription.'"
